This teaching unit in Macroeconomics is part of the curriculum and provides tools to understand the determination of the main macroeconomic aggregates such as output (GDP), unemployment, inflation, and interest rates.
The course intends to provide some theoretical schemes needed to follow and interpret the dynamics of the main national and international macroeconomic variables.
At the end of the teaching unit, the student will be able to: - Apply integrated macroeconomic models (content) to determine the main national economicaggregates (condition) [Dublin Descriptor 2]; - Evaluate the effects of fiscal and monetary policies (content) in theoretical and applied contexts (condition), justifying choices with coherent arguments (criterion) [Dublin Descriptor 3]; - Critically analyse the current macroeconomic debate (content) using the acquired tools (condition) [Dublin Descriptor 4].
Students are expected to have a good knowledge of the techniques for solving first-order equations.
The teaching unit is delivered through frontal lectures. Attendance is not compulsory.
Students with certified disabilities, specific learning disorders (SLD), or special educational needs should contact both the instructor and the Department's disability liaison, Prof.ssa Elena Lagomarsino elena.lagomarsino@unige.it, at the beginning of the course to agree on teaching and examination arrangements that, while respecting the objectives of the teaching unit, take into account individual learning needs and allow the use of compensatory tools.

Lectures will be given in the second semester.
The exam is given by a written assessment with open questions and numerical/analytical exercises. Erasmus students can ask to give the exam in English.
The answers to the open questions and the solutions of the numerical/analytical exercises will be evaluated based on their correctness, the proper use of technical language, calculation skills, and the ability to reproduce graphs and diagrams related to the topics covered.
The program of the course is the same for attending and non-attending students.
Any additional information will be provided during lectures and on Aulaweb.
