The written test Will be divided in TWO PARTS. You first need to pass part one in order to have Access to part two. ASSESSMENT METHODS WRITTEN TEST – PART ONE [max 12 points] It will consist of close-answer questions. You do not need to show your calculations: just write down the finalanswer to each question directly on the exam sheet. Passing condition: you need to score at least 7 points for this part. If you score 7 or above, you will be able tocontinue the exam, otherwise you have not passed the exam and you have to try it again at a later session. WRITTEN TEST – PART TWO [max 20 points] Part two consists of several problems, of which you need to provide a detailed solution. TOTAL SCORE FOR THE WRITTEN PARTS: Your total score is given by the sum of the score of the two parts, and should be at least 16. If your score is up to 15, the exam is not passed and you have to try again at a later session. If your total score is 16 or 17, you HAVE TO do the oral exam as well, which will be announced in thefollowing days. If you do not want to do the oral exam, then you have not passed the exam and you haveto come to a later session. If your total score is 18 or above, you have two choices: you can either accept the score as your final grade, OR you can choose to do the oral part of the exam. ORAL EXAM: If you have to take the oral exam, or if your score is 18 or above and you have chosen to takethe oral exam, I will ask you up to 3 questions. At the end of all these questions, I will give you a score between -3 and 3 which will be added to your score from the written part. Questions will be related to what I covered in class, and may include BOTH exercises AND theory (a definition, a theorem, a proof...). If at the end of your oral exam you are not satisfied with the final score, you may reject the grade, but you will then have to come back to a later session and take the written part again. FINAL GRADE: Your final grade will be the total of the parts. If your grade is 31 or above, you get a “30 cumlaude” grade. FURTHER INFORMATION Students with valid certifications for Specific Learning Disorders (SLD) may request accommodations for exams at least 7 days prior to the exam date by filling out the “accommodation request form” (available via online services at https://modulionline.unige.it/richiesta-adattamenti# no-back), which will be automatically forwarded by the system to the instructor in charge of the course and to the faculty liaison for students with disabilities and SLDs in their School/Department. The student will receive a copy of their request.
