CODE 121077 ACADEMIC YEAR 2026/2027 CREDITS 6 cfu anno 1 COMPUTER ENGINEERING 12133 (L-8 R) - IMPERIA SCIENTIFIC DISCIPLINARY SECTOR MATH-03/A LANGUAGE English TEACHING LOCATION IMPERIA SEMESTER 1° Semester OVERVIEW The course is mainly devoted to the mathematical approach with the purpose of solving both qualitative and numerical problems. AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES The teaching unit provides some basic concepts of mathematical analysis: numerical sequences and series, differential calculus in one variable, polynomial approximation of functions, numerical methods for nonlinear equations. AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES The aim of the teaching is to let the student be aquainted with the methods and the results of mathematical analysis. The learning outcomes are the topics of the differentil calculus for functions of a real variable. PREREQUISITES Since the course is given in the first semester of the first year then no prerequisite is required. TEACHING METHODS Students who hold valid certificates relating to Specific Learning Difficulties (SLD), disabilities or other educational needs are invited to contact the lecturer and the school’s disability liaison officer at the start of the course to agree on any teaching arrangements which, whilst respecting the course objectives, take into account individual learning styles. SYLLABUS/CONTENT In essence the content involves: numbers; numerical sequences; continuity and differentiability of functions; Rolle, Cauchy, Taylor theorems; zeroes of functions. ASSESSMENT METHODS The assessment is based on the understanding of the matter, the capability of put a problem in a mathematical form, and the ability to apply the mathematical analysis to the solution of pertinent problems.
