AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

The Therapeutic Education module is designed to promote the autonomy and self-management of individuals living with chronic conditions. Within this module, the principles, methodologies, and tools of therapeutic education will be explored, with particular emphasis on the development of the following competencies:

• Designing and implementing multidisciplinary therapeutic education interventions.
• Planning therapeutic education programmes for individuals with chronic conditions.
• Applying effective interpersonal and communication strategies to promote patient autonomy, treatment adherence, and psychosocial well-being, while supporting self-care processes.

TEACHING METHODS

Lectures will be delivered through classroom-based teaching sessions and group discussions on the topics covered..

Students with a certified Specific Learning Disorder (SpLD), disability, or other special educational needs are strongly encouraged to contact the teaching staff at the beginning of the course in order to agree on appropriate teaching arrangements. Such arrangements will respect the intended learning outcomes while taking individual learning needs into account and providing suitable reasonable adjustments and support measures.

EXAMS

EXAM DESCRIPTION

Assessment will take the form of either an oral or a written examination and will primarily evaluate students’ knowledge and understanding of the topics covered in the module.

Examination dates will be published on AulaWeb.

Examinations for integrated courses are held at the University of Genoa and take place in a single examination session. Examination boards, chaired by the Integrated Course Coordinators or their delegates, shall be constituted in accordance with Article 29, paragraphs 5 and 6, of the University Teaching Regulations.

In accordance with the Degree Programme Regulations, examinations may only be taken during the periods specifically designated as examination sessions. As a rule, assessment activities may not coincide with periods during which teaching and learning activities are being delivered.

ASSESSMENT METHODS

The examination will assess candidates’ ability to demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the module content and to apply critical thinking and reasoning skills.

Students with certified Specific Learning Disorders (SpLDs) or other certified special educational needs may agree on either a written or an oral assessment format with the lecturer, provided that they contact the teaching staff at least 10 days before the examination. They will also be entitled to an additional 30% extra time.

The email must include:

• the module title;
• the examination date;
• the student's surname, first name, and student ID number;
• the requested reasonable adjustments and examination accommodations.
