OVERVIEW

The course consists of two modules, Control of Multi-Variable Systems (80181, 5 ECTS) and System Identification (111106, 5 ECTS), both during the first semester. Central to the course is the concept of dynamical model. While the System Identification module focuses on methodologies and tools for designing systems’ models, the Control of Multi-Variable Systems module focuses on the structural properties of multivariable (linear) time invariant dynamical models and their use within robotics applications. Please refer to each module for a detailed description of their contents, learning outcomes, prerequists, teaching methods and bibliography.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The teaching unit is composed of two modules, each focusing on critical aspects of system analysis, identification, and control in the context of multi-variable systems. Overall, the teaching unit provides students with the theoretical and practical skills necessary for the analysis, identification, and control of multi-variable systems, particularly in robotics and dynamic systems applications.

PREREQUISITES

No formal prerequisites are needed. Students are expected to be familiar with basic signal and systems topics, random variables, calculus, vector and matrix algebra.

TEACHING METHODS

Students who hold valid certificates relating to Specific Learning Difficulties (SLD), disabilities or other educational needs are invited to contact the lecturer and the school’s disability liaison officer at the start of the course to agree on any teaching arrangements which, whilst respecting the course objectives, take into account individual learning styles.

The contact details for the university’s disability liaison officer are available at the following link: https://unige.it/commissioni/comitatoperlinclusionedeglistudenticondisabilita.

EXAMS

EXAM DESCRIPTION

The final course mark is the average of the intermediate tests from both modules. Please refer to each module for a detailed description of their contents, learning outcomes, prerequists, teaching methods and bibliography.

ASSESSMENT METHODS

The class is divided into two modules, with specific assessment methods for each module’s learning outcomes detailed within the corresponding module descriptions.

FURTHER INFORMATION

Students with valid certifications for Specific Learning Disorders (SLD) may request accommodations for exams at least 7 days prior to the exam date by filling out the “accommodation request form” (available via online services at https://modulionline.unige.it/richiesta-adattamenti# no-back), which will be automatically forwarded by the system to the instructor in charge of the course and to the faculty liaison for students with disabilities and SLDs in their School/Department.

The student will receive a copy of their request.
