OVERVIEW

The course describes the main aspects regarding the safety and security of transport systems and networks, providing the methodological tools to assess their reliability.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The goal of the course consists of providing the basic knowledge about methodologies and technologies for safety in transport systems and networks, and the methodological tools for assessing reliability. At the end of the course, the student will be able to discuss safety/security and reliability principles and standards and to apply methods and models for the assessment of safety and reliability in the context of transport systems and networks.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of the course the student will have acquired the fundamental notions for the assessment of safety and security aspects in the context of transport systems through the application of different alternative methodologies.

PREREQUISITES

There are no specific requirements.

TEACHING METHODS

The course is delivered in a hybrid format, with face-to-face lectures (held at the Polytechnic School) that can also be attended remotely. During the lessons, the professor shows slides (which are made then available to the students through Aulaweb) on the various topics of the course and, in some cases, she uses the blackboard to explain in detail some specific contents.

The teaching materials are provided by the professor on AulaWeb. 

Specific guidance regarding the reference bibliography and any materials available to specific categories of students (working students, non-attending students, and students with certified learning disorders, disabilities, or other special educational needs) will be provided by the professor at the beginning of the course.

EXAMS

EXAM DESCRIPTION

The exam consists of an oral test.

 

ASSESSMENT METHODS

The student's assessment is carried out through an oral test in which the student is asked to illustrate the theoretical topics of the course. The student must demonstrate that he/she has acquired a sufficient knowledge of the topics illustrated in class and that he/she is able tto define and discuss simple problems in the modeling and analysis of transport systems from the safety and security point of view.
