AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The course aims to: • Identify the main types of artificial intelligence and their application domains within engineering contexts related to mechanical design and production; • Understand the theoretical and symbolic foundations of AI-based systems, with reference to the human–AI co-evolution paradigm proposed by the System0 model; • Apply basic prompting techniques to interact with generative language models and interpret them in relation to engineering use cases; • Distinguish between different algorithmic approaches to artificial intelligence (predictive models, classifiers, neural networks) and assess their suitability for specific challenges within the mechanical production chain; • Design simple AI-based solutions, consciously integrating technical, symbolic, and ethical aspects, in order to enhance decision-making and operational processes in industrial environments.
