Information updated until 30/06/2026 CODE 60453 ACADEMIC YEAR 2026/2027 CREDITS 12 cfu anno 2 INGEGNERIA MECCANICA 11881 (L-9 R) - GENOVA LANGUAGE Italian TEACHING LOCATION GENOVA MODULES Questo insegnamento è composto da: FLUID MECHANICS SOLID AND STRUCTURAL MECHANICS OVERVIEW Solids and fluids, in engineering, are treated as continuous media, i.e. media for which a microscopic analysis that looks at the behavior of molecules, atoms and ions is not necessary, but for which it is necessary and sufficient to define fields (of velocity, pressure, deformation, etc.) which vary in time and/or space. The key equation of continuum mechanics is the Cauchy equation; solids and fluids differ in the way the stress tensor is represented in this equation.
