OVERVIEW

The teaching “History of National and International Sports Organizations” aims to study the historical origins of national and international sports organizations through to their current complex framework. It will also present the evolution of sports organizations from the voluntary institutions of the 19th century to the professional bodies and regulatory systems suited to governing the modern commercial world of sport today.

The teaching aims to make students understand the functioning, powers, skills, national and international context and initiatives of the main sports organizations.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

The teaching has three educational objectives: 1. knowledge objectives: knowing the system of national and international sports organizations; 2. competence objectives: knowing how to identify the main historical and historiographical nodes through a conscious use of sources; 3. behavioral objectives: being able to elaborate a critical reflection on the relationship between representatives and represented in national and international sports organizations.

At the end of Teaching the course the student is able to:

- understand the historical path that led to the birth and evolution of sports governance;

- interpret the current national and international sports scenario thanks to the mastery of historical dynamics;

- identify and understand the subjects and fundamental principles that regulate the structure and functioning of national and international sports organizations;

- identify, understand and analyze the rules that govern the organization and functioning of national and international sports organizations;

- use the historical and legal methodology to understand the present of international organizations, in their potential and their limits.

PREREQUISITES

There are no specific requirements.

TEACHING METHODS

The lessons will be face-to-face. The modality is in presence.

The sharing of slides and other material will take place via Aulaweb.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

Sports governance, the birth, evolution and functioning of national and international sports organizations.

Specifically, the following topics will be addressed:

- birth of national sports governance;

- birth of international sports governance;

- legal aspects relating to the structure and functioning of national and international sports organizations and their relations.

EXAMS

EXAM DESCRIPTION

The exam consists of an oral test lasting approximately 15 minutes.

For cases with certification of DSA, disability or other special educational needs, the University legislation and regulations on disability and DSA apply.

ASSESSMENT METHODS

Evaluation is based primarily on subject knowledge, but also on the quality of the presentation, the correct use of specialized vocabulary, and the ability to critically reason about the study completed.
