AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES The primary objective of the seminar is to identify the specific cultural characteristics of South America. Through examples drawn from the speakers' own experiences, the concept of cultural mixing (*meticciato*) will be evaluated as an ideal bridge and mediator between totalizing homogenization and heterogeneous fragmentation. AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES By the end of the series of meetings, students will be able to analyze themes related to the encounter between cultures and cultural hybridization. PREREQUISITES No prerequisites required. TEACHING METHODS Two lectures using multimedia aids, guided classroom discussions, and individual exercises. SYLLABUS/CONTENT From music to gastronomy, and from Carnival to religious and sporting phenomena, the most emblematic cultural traits of Brazil and Peru will be analyzed, highlighting their significance for understanding the reality of South American cultural mixing.
