AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The course aims to illustrate to the students the priciples of Hygiene applied to healthcare facilities with particular attention to hospitals. Knowledge about the mechanisms of spread of healthcare associted infections (HAI) will be provided; in particular, infection surveillance methods and tools implemented at national and international level, will be illustrated and described. The main micro-organisms involved in hospital infections and their correlations with healthcare practices will also be examined. Antibiotic resistance plans will be outlined.
