AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

Acquire the necessary notions for a basic knowledge of the pathologies that affect, primitively and secondarily, the stomatognathic system and the neighboring anatomical-clinical areas, for a correct approach to the clinical, general dental examination of patients with the possibility of distinguishing with certainty the conditions of real health of the stomatognathic structures, in particular of the tissues supporting the dental elements, mild or high-grade pathological states.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

Outline of oral cavity anatomy The dental examination: inspection, palpation, ascultation, odor Study and definition of symptoms and signs of diseases Etiopadogenetic classification of diseases Diagnostic process: family history, proximate pathological staff, remote pathology Physical examination of the oral mucosa Odontostomatological semeiotics: pain (localized, neuralgic, spontaneous, induced)  Frequently encountered elementary lessons: swelling and nodules, ulcers, macules, papules, pustules, scabs, vesicles and boils, gingival hyperplasia, warty lesions, pigmentations Major and minor salivary glands, outline of the anatomy of the salivary glands
