OVERVIEW

The module 'Business Economics and Organization' is part of the Integrated Course 'Law and Economics in Sport' with the other two Law modules.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The teaching aims to provide fundamental knowledge about economic dynamics in business management, specifically referring to sports-related enterprises.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

The Economics and Corporate Organization module aims to provide students with a basic understanding of the principles governing the operation of businesses, particularly those operating in the sports sector, with regard to:

  • the conditions required for their existence and effective operation, including the achievement of economic and financial stability of the business;
  • programming and control system.

Expected Learning Outcomes

Knowledge and understanding: to know and be able to describe the principles governing the operation of a business, with particular emphasis on the conditions required to achieve economic and financial stability of the business.

Applying knowledge and understanding: to apply the knowledge acquired in order to understand and solve management-related problems in simulated business contexts.

Making judgements: to assess, on the basis of the theoretical and practical knowledge acquired, the ability of a business to achieve and maintain economic and financial stability, with reference to the business cases presented.

Communication skills: to present clearly and accurately the economic and financial effects of the main business operations.

TEACHING METHODS

The module consists of:

  • face-to-face lectures aimed at providing an overview of financial and business concepts;
  • practical sessions devoted to specific applications.

Learning may be facilitated through the use of digital self-assessment apps by students.

EXAMS

EXAM DESCRIPTION

The examination consists of a written assessment designed to evaluate learning outcomes and is the same for attending and non-attending students.

The assessment includes a combination of practical and theoretical questions, which may consist of exercises, open-ended questions and multiple-choice questions.

ASSESSMENT METHODS

The final assessment is designed to verify that students know, understand and are able to communicate effectively the topics covered during the course. In details, it assesses students’ ability to apply the knowledge acquired to the solution of business problems, with particular reference to evaluating the achievement and maintenance of the economic and financial stability of the business.

The assessment criteria include clarity of presentation, appropriate use of terminology, analytical skills and the ability to apply the knowledge acquired.
