Starting from the mechanisms of the neuronal and muscle cells, the elements for understanding the functions of the motor system and the sensory systems are provided. AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES The teaching aims to provide basic knowledge about the main aspects of the biological processes of the endocrine system and neurophysiology, with particular reference to the neuromotor and sensory apparatus. AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES The aim of the course is to provide the fundamental knowledge on the functions performed by the main structures of the nervous system and on the underlying physiological mechanisms in order to offer a physiological reference framework with which to interpret the role played by these structures in the neurophysiological mechanisms related to physical exercise. Regarding the parameters of: To Know: At the end of the course, the student will know: - the principles of functioning of the nervous system; - the appropriate physiological terminology and the essential parameters for evaluating the systems present in the program; To Know-how: At the end of the course the student will know how: - integrate the knowledge of Biochemistry, Human Anatomy and Physiology I in a more general framework on the function of the endocrine and nervous systems; The student at the end of the course will have acquired the tools to evaluate the neurophysiological mechanisms related to physical exercise. PREREQUISITES Knowledge of the basic principles of physics, chemistry and biochemistry. Knowledge of human anatomy. Passing the exams of Physiology I. TEACHING METHODS The course includes lectures. SYLLABUS/CONTENT The nervous system: somatic sensations; pain and analgesia; the motor systems of the brain; reflex and voluntary control of posture and movement; the vestibular system; motor functions of the cerebral cortex, cerebellum and basal ganglia. Class schedule The timetable for this course is available here: Portale EasyAcademy EXAMS EXAM DESCRIPTION Written + oral exam. The written test for admission to the oral exam consists of 15 multiple choice questions. Duration: 20 minutes. The test must be conducted without the use of own notes or books or multimedia supports, in the presence of teachers. Correct answers: +1; Wrong answer: -0.25; no answer: 0. The student must score at least 7.5 points to be admitted to the oral examination. The written test graduation contributes to the final assessment, with a minimum score of 7.5 and a maximum of 15. The oral exam consists of an interview with a member of the examination board. A score ranging from 0 to 15 may be awarded for the oral exam. The exam is considered passed if the sum of the written and oral exam scores is 18 or higher. ASSESSMENT METHODS The oral exam aims to verify the basic knowledge of the main physiological mechanisms of the body. Language properties, clarity of presentation, consequentiality of reasoning and analytical capacity are also evaluated. The grade of Physiology II will be mediated with the grades of Biomechanics and Biomechanics of sport gesture, weighted by the CFU of each course in the integrated Physology II and Biomechanics course.
