OVERVIEW

The Fitness course introduces students to the theoretical and methodological principles of physical activity aimed at improving and maintaining physical fitness and psychophysical well-being. The course addresses the main aspects of exercise programming, with particular reference to the development of physical fitness components, the assessment of physical condition, and the proper organization of different types of training. Particular attention is devoted to the application of training principles according to individual characteristics, goals, and different levels of practice.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The aim of the teaching is to enable the acquisition of skills related to the methodology and teaching of the different disciplines of fitness.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

The course aims to provide students with knowledge and skills related to the fundamental principles of fitness and the design of exercise programs.

At the end of the course, students will be able to:

understand the main physiological and methodological principles of training;
understand the characteristics of the main forms of exercise used in fitness;
understand the methods for developing and training physical fitness components;
identify and apply the main exercise programming parameters;
understand the criteria for adapting training to the characteristics and goals of the individual;
understand the main tools and methods used to assess physical fitness;
design exercise programs consistent with predefined goals, while respecting the principles of gradual progression, individualization, and safety;
use appropriate technical terminology in the field of fitness and physical exercise.

PREREQUISITES

Basic knowledge of human anatomy and physiology is required, with particular reference to the musculoskeletal system and the main systems involved in physical exercise. Introductory knowledge of training theory and methodology and motor abilities is also useful.

TEACHING METHODS

The course includes lectures and interactive teaching activities aimed at acquiring theoretical and methodological knowledge. Where provided, lectures will be complemented by practical exercises, analysis of applied situations, case studies, and the development of examples of training programs.

Audiovisual materials and teaching resources will be used during the activities to facilitate understanding of the course content and its practical application. Discussion and active student participation will be encouraged.

Students with valid certifications for Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD), disabilities, or other educational needs are invited to contact the teacher and the School/Department disability contact at the beginning of the course to agree on any teaching methods that, in compliance with the teaching objectives, take into account individual learning methods and provide suitable compensatory tools/dispensatives recognized by the University's SLD Student Service.
