AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The teaching aims to deepen knowledge about the main neurological disorders across different stages of life, correlating them with the implications regarding motor skills.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

The teaching course aims to ensure that students acquire knowledge of the principal functions and dysfunctions of the Central Nervous System (CNS) and the Peripheral Nervous System (PNS), with particular emphasis on motor function and on the neurological diseases with the highest incidence and prevalence.

During the course, students will review the anatomical and neurophysiological foundations of the nervous system and will learn to recognize the main pathological conditions involving the corticospinal, corticobulbar, extrapyramidal, sensory, cerebellar, and neuromuscular systems.

Students will learn the essential features of the major neurological disorders, including cerebrovascular diseases, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, extrapyramidal syndromes, dementias, brain tumors, traumatic brain injuries, and neuromuscular diseases, so that they can be aware of these conditions and recognize their implications should they encounter individuals affected by such disorders in the course of their professional practice.

EXAMS

EXAM DESCRIPTION

Written midterm assessment: multiple-choice test.

Oral examinations: oral assessment of the topics covered during the course.

ASSESSMENT METHODS

The examination is conducted orally as part of a comprehensive assessment covering all subjects included in the integrated course

Each instructor within the integrated course examines the student separately. At the end of the assessment, a final grade is awarded based on the weighted average of the grades obtained in the individual subjects.

Students may choose not to accept the grade and may withdraw in order to retake the examination during a subsequent exam session. The grades and examination records are then entered into the electronic grading system by the coordinator of the integrated course as soon as possible.
