OVERVIEW

The course of ATP – Match Performance Analysis introduces the student to the principles, methods, and tools for analyzing sports performance in a match situation.

The teaching activity integrates the theoretical aspects of observation and evaluation with practical applications aimed at collecting, organizing, interpreting, and reporting data relating to the athlete's or team's performance.

Particular attention is dedicated to analyzing the performance structure, identifying relevant performance indicators, interpreting technical-tactical, physical, and temporal data, and their use in the training planning and monitoring process.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The course aims to apply, through technical-practical activities, the theoretical knowledge relating to the analysis of race performance.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of the course, the student will be able to:

  • understand the fundamental principles of sports performance analysis;
  • identify and define the most significant indicators in relation to the sports discipline and performance level;
  • design simple observation and data collection protocols during training and matches;
  • use tools and procedures for the quantitative and qualitative analysis of performance;
  • interpret the obtained data, distinguishing between descriptive information, performance indicators, and variables useful for training planning;
  • develop a summary of the performance and communicate the results in a clear and functional way to meet the needs of the technical staff.

PREREQUISITES

An elementary knowledge of the main technical-tactical characteristics of sports disciplines and performance evaluation methods is useful.

TEACHING METHODS

Lectures and interactive lessons, practical exercises, analysis of match situations, case studies.

Activities may include individual and group work aimed at building and applying simple performance analysis systems.

Any Student with documented Specific Learning Disorders (SLD), or with any special needs, should contact the Lecturer(s) and to the dedicated SLD Representative in the Department before class begins, in order to liaise and arrange the specific teaching methods so that the learning aims and outcomes may be met.
