OVERVIEW

This unit consists of two modules: "Supply Chain Management" and "Machines, Systems, and Green Fuels for Transport and Logistics" The Supply Chain Management module provides methods and tools to design, analyze, and optimize the logistics and production networks that connect suppliers, companies, and customers. The aim is to train engineers capable of improving performance in terms of cost, service level, lead time, and reliability. The second module, Machines, Systems, and Green Fuels for Transport and Logistics, aims to provide knowledge of the main types of machinery, with particular reference to those used in transport and logistics systems, as well as energy systems and their environmental impact.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The objective of the course is to provide foundational knowledge on supply chain resilience and low environmental impact technologies for transport and logistics. This objective is pursued through two teaching modules: Supply Chain Management and Machines, Systems and Green Fuels for Transport and Logistics. The first module aims to provide students with an understanding of models for forecasting product demand, production planning, warehouse management and distribution of products between warehouses and distribution centers. The second module aims to provide knowledge on the main types of machines, with reference to those used in transport and logistic systems, as well as on energy systems and their environmental impact.

PREREQUISITES

For Machines, Systems and Green Fuels: basic knowledge on thermodynamics and fluid dynamics.
