Learning objectives

The MAWE course adopts an interdisciplinary approach with specific focus on the engineering area of welding and in particular on the following technical and scientific fields: automation, metallurgy, materials science, welding processes, design and quality control. The course aims to offer students an in-depth understanding of welding technologies, recent technologies and among these in particular laser and friction-stir welding. The ultimate goal of the Master's course is to provide the necessary skills for the professional development of welding by gaining an in-depth understanding of the welding process in the light of the increasingly stringent regulations on welding and related certifications. Students will have access to well-equipped, dedicated laboratories and will be able to use recent, high quality instrumentation for arc, laser and robot welding and for testing and inspection.
