Admission criteria and procedure

Graduates with a degree obtained in Italy

The course is open to candidates holding a three-year degree from the following classes:

• L-18 (DM 270/04) and 17 (DM 509/99) Sciences of Economics and Business Management
• L-33 (DM 270/04) and 28 (DM 509/99) Economic Sciences

Candidates holding a Bachelor's degree from another class may be admitted provided they possess at least 30 CFUs distributed as follows:

• 9 CFUs in the following fields of business: 13/ECON-06 BUSINESS ECONOMICS (SECS-P/07); 13/ECON-07 ECONOMICS AND BUSINESS MANAGEMENT (SECS-P/08); 13/ECON-09 ECONOMICS OF FINANCIAL INTERMEDIARIES AND BUSINESS FINANCE (SECS-P/09; SECS-P/11); 13/ECON-08 BUSINESS ORGANISATION (SECS-P/10); 13/ECON-10 MERCEOLOGICAL SCIENCES (SECS-P/13
• 9 CFUs in the following fields of economics 13/ECON-01 POLITICAL ECONOMICS (SECS-P/01); 13/ECON-02 ECONOMIC POLITICS (SECS P/02); 13/ECON-03 SCIENCE OF FINANCE (SECS-P/03); 13/ECON-05 ECONOMETRY (SECS-P/05); 13/ECON-04 APPLIED ECONOMICS (SECS-P/06); 13/STEC-01/B ECONOMIC HISTORY (SECS-P/12)

• 6 CFU in the following fields of law 12/GIUR-01 PRIVATE LAW 3 (IUS/01); 12/GIUR-02 COMMERCIAL AND NAVIGATION LAW (IUS/04; IUS/06); 12/GIUR-03/A ECONOMIC LAW (IUS/05); 12/GIUR-04 LABOUR LAW (IUS/07); 12/GIUR-06 ADMINISTRATIVE AND PUBLIC LAW (IUS/09); 12/GIUR-08 TAX LAW (IUS/12); 12/GIUR-09 INTERNATIONAL LAW (IUS/13); 12/GIUR-10 EUROPEAN UNION LAW (IUS/14).

A margin of tolerance of 1 CFU per subject area is allowed in the distribution of CFUs between subject areas in order to take into account the different evaluation metrics adopted by Italian universities, provided that the total number of CFUs in the areas of business, economics, law, statistics and mathematics is at least equal to 30.

Graduates with a degree obtained abroad

Graduates witha degree obtained abroad recognised as eligible for enrolment in a Master's degree in economics or economics/business may be admitted to the course. In order to be admitted, they must have obtained a degree grade corresponding to at least 80% of the maximum grade allowed by their university. In the event that the application is approved, they must follow the procedures indicated on the University website on the web page dedicated to international enrolments.

The verification of the suitability of the qualification obtained abroad is carried out by the Welcome Office of the University of Genoa.

The student must meet the curricular requirements before accessing the personal preparation verification stage.

All applicants are required to have an adequate knowledge of the English language (at least B1 level) in oral and written comprehension and communication.
To this end:

• three-year graduates who have obtained their degree (in any class of degree) at the Department of Economics of the University of Genoa are considered to meet this requirement;
• all other candidates must demonstrate possession of this requirement by one of the following methods
  •  submit a certificate of language proficiency of at least B1 level from among those recognised by the University of Genoa:
  • have passed, in their previous university career, one or more English language examinations, for at least 6 CFUs in total of B1 level or higher; the achievement of a language proficiency level of B1 level or higher must be demonstrated through the presentation of certification or other official documentation issued by the University of
    provenance (certificate, transcript, teaching regulations or presentation sheet of the teaching of the a.a. of reference). Attendance certificates will not be considered sufficient;
  • present a Medium of Instruction Certificate (MOI), i.e. an official document issued by the university of origin certifying that the course of study for the bachelor's degree - or the qualification presented for access to the master's degree - was fully delivered in English.

In the absence of these conditions, fulfilment of the requirement may be achieved by passing a B1-level English test, delivered in collaboration with the University of Genoa's Language Skills Development Sector.

Candidates with a qualification obtained abroad must demonstrate adequate knowledge of the Italian language (at least level B2) in oral and written comprehension and communication by passing the Italian language proficiency test organised by the University or by presenting a certificate of language proficiency of at least level B2 among those recognised by the University (https://unige.it/scuola-lingua-italiana).
The student must meet the language requirements before accessing the personal preparation test phase.

Submit your pre-enrolment application using the UniGePASS credentials received upon registration.

You may submit your pre-enrolment application even if you have not yet graduated or, if you have already obtained your degree, even before submitting the application for assessment of curricular requirements or before receiving the outcome of that assessment.
