Bachelor's degree thesis

What it is

To be admitted to the final examination, you must have duly attended the training activities and obtained the credits prescribed by the regulations.

The final examination consists of the discussion, before a committee, of a written paper and serves to verify the language mediation skills you have acquired during your years of study.

The final paper may consist of:

  • a translation (of about 30,000 characters, including spaces) from/into one of the specialised languages, accompanied by a theoretical-methodological commentary and a concise introduction
  • a glossary of about 40 terms from one or both of the specialisation languages and Italian, preceded or followed by a theoretical-methodological commentary
  • .
  • a work in the field of theoretical and/or applied linguistics related to the theory of translation and oral mediation (of about 40,000 characters, spaces included)

You will have to present your work in Italian and in one of your two chosen languages of specialisation

VIDEO SHEETS WITH SUBTITLES

The video player installed on UniGe's computer is VLC, which is able to read most formats thanks to its native Audio and Video codecs.

To add subtitles to your video you can follow two procedures:

.
    .
  • insert the video and subtitle file in the same folder and with the same name (e.g., XYZ.avi and XYZ.srt). Afterwards, when opening the film, the subtitles will appear automatically
  • .
  • open the video with VLC and drag the subtitle file onto the programme interface. These will automatically synchronise
  • .
.

In case the subtitles are not synchronised with the video, from the application menu go to Tools > Synchronisation track. From the window that opens, you can adjust the advance of the audio with respect to the video, the advance of the subtitles and their speed.
