► A Brief Historical Overview:
Established in the academic year 2003/2004, the Master's Programme in Maritime and Port Economics (EMMP) emerged from the restructuring of the former four-year degree course in Transport Economics, initially launched in 1994/1995. This restructuring followed the implementation of the so-called "3+2" system, resulting in the creation of a three-year undergraduate programme in Economics of Maritime Enterprises, Logistics and Transport (CLEAMLT), followed by the two-year EMMP. However, the academic roots of maritime studies at the institution date back to 1936, when the historic four-year degree in Economics and Commerce, offered by the then Faculty (now Department) of Economics, included specialised courses in shipping. This focus was further formalised with the introduction of a dedicated maritime-port curriculum in the academic year 1986/1987.
To mark the twentieth anniversary of the EMMP programme's launch, a commemorative event was held aboard the MSC Fantasia cruise ship in May 2024. In the dedicated NEWS you can see the video of the entire event and an interview with the coordinator.

Over two decades since its establishment, albeit with the changes that have become necessary to adapt to the regulations in force and to the evolution of the shipping market, EMMP confirms the presence in its educational offer of a balanced set of professionalising courses, many of which are delivered in English, in the business, economic, statistical-mathematical and legal fields with specific reference to the national and international maritime-port sector and the blue economy.

In the study plan, there are no formalised curricula; however, in the second year, you can choose from subjects that focus more on the maritime transport of persons and tourism, rather than on the transport of goods and logistics. In addition, you have the possibility of educational experiences abroad, as well as internships in companies or affiliated institutions.
