The course provides professional preparation for teaching mathematics in secondary school. Moreover, it provides a first approach to research in mathematics education. The course introduces theoretical tools for the design, implementation and analysis of class activities.
The course provides adequate theoretical knowledge from research in mathematics education to frame mathematics teaching and learning processes. Students will be able to apply the acquired knowledge to design and analyze learning pathways, will be able to critically evaluate teaching proposals and textbooks, and will acquire the technical language to communicate clearly and unambiguously with both specialist and nonspecialist interlocutors.
