- textual competence for a translation-oriented analysis of German texts
- awareness of specific problems of translation and consecutive interpretation that are due to differences between linguistic systems and to different textual conventions and cultural traditions.
The theoretical module will be in form of frontal lessons with seminars.
The applied modules will be in form of practical lessons.
Classes will be held mostly in German.
The theoretical module aims to provide students with a theoretical framework for identifying the linguistic, stylistic and functional peculiarities of source texts, conceiving on that basis a translation project that guides their transposition into Italian. Texts used come from linguistics and from natural sciences (physics, chemistry, neurology, biology ); genres analysed will vary between "texts with a maximum degree of specialization" (scientific texts ) and "texts with a minimum degree of specialization" (popular scientific texts ). The theoretical unit includes also a 6-hour seminar on "The phraseological terms in the German legal language and their translation into Italian" held by Dr. Lucia Udvari.
