Provide a comprehensive discussion of the fundamentals and techniques of corrosion protection and corrosion control for those who must confront, without advocating any of intensive professional courses, with an initial approach to the diagnosis and discussion of the problems of degradation of metallic materials in contact with the external environment.
The course is based on theoretical lectures and laboratory experiments.
Aspects of electrochemical corrosion, shapes and morphologies of corrosion; corrosion in industrial environments. Methods of prevention and protection; corrosion monitoring in plants.
Lecture notes
Einar Mattsson, “Basic corrosion technology for scientists and engineers”, John Wiley and Son Ellis Horwood Limited (1989)
Ricevimento: On appointment
GIACOMO CERISOLA (President)
ANTONIO BARBUCCI
MARINA DELUCCHI
MARCO PANIZZA
Written examination, oral examination at the request of the student.
The written test includes questions on theoretical aspects of general corrosion, its prevention and protection; the morphologies of attack and the factors influencing the selection of materials and methods of protection in service environment.
