AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Provide a comprehensive discussion of the fundamentals and techniques of corrosion protection and corrosion control for those who must confront, without advocating any of intensive professional courses, with an initial approach to the diagnosis and discussion of the problems of degradation of metallic materials in contact with the external environment.

TEACHING METHODS

The course is based on theoretical lectures and laboratory experiments.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

Aspects of electrochemical corrosion, shapes and morphologies of corrosion; corrosion in industrial environments. Methods of prevention and protection; corrosion monitoring in plants.

EXAM DESCRIPTION

Written examination, oral examination at the request of the student. 

 

ASSESSMENT METHODS

The written test includes questions on theoretical aspects of general corrosion, its prevention and protection; the morphologies of attack and the factors influencing the selection of materials and methods of protection in service environment.
