This course addresses advanced topics in structures:

1. Introduction to advanced and contemporary construction materials
2. exploration of structural elements and systems, and expands to include more complex, long-span and high-rise systems.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

The course is divided into three parts:

Part 1: Advanced building materials:  composed steel-reinforced concrete structures, Aluminium, Composite materials;  Wooden structures

Part 2: exploration of structural elements and systems, and expands to include more complex, long-span and high-rise systems: lattice structure, gerber system, vierendeel truss, bi-dimensional structures, shells.

Part 3: Experimental test on streel details
