OVERVIEW

The course provides the basic tools for the analysis and design of electronic circuits and systems. Learning outcomes: being able to understand the functioning of the main electronic components, to analyze the basic behavior of  non-complex electronic circuits (analog and digital) and to study their detailed behavior by means of a circuit simulator, to design simple analog and digital circuits.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The aim of the course is to provide the basic tools for the analysis and design of electronic circuits and systems. 1. Operation of the main electronic components; 2. analysis and simulation of electronic circuits (analog and digital) non-complex; 3. design of simple analog and digital circuits.

EXAMS

EXAM DESCRIPTION

The exam consists of a written test and an oral exam. Alternatively, only attending students can take two intermediate written tests, which allow a more accurate and detailed assessment of the level of knowledge and the attainment of the educational objectives of tthe course; in this case the oral exam is optional. Moreover, performing simulation/design exercises allows to obtain (for a period of one year) up to 2 additional points to the evaluation of the written tests (final or intermediate).

ASSESSMENT METHODS

The exam assesses the acquisition of the concepts contained in the course, the ability to apply these concepts to the resolution of exercises of circuital analysis/design, and the reasoning skills of the student. The written exams (intermediate or complete) are organized into two parts. Part A consists of a number of exercises that cover topics concerning all the course (complete test) or the related period (intermediate tests), and for evaluating the acquired theoretical knowledge and their application to solve simple circuit exercises. Part B consists of two circuital analysis/design problems to be solved by following the provided specifications, and aims to evaluate the application of the knowledge acquired by students in solving more complex problems. Upon successful completion of the complete written test, an oral exam follows in which, starting from the written test evaluation, the attainment of the educational objectives of thr course and the level of knowledge acquired by the student are tested. The exam is not passed when the training objectives have not been achieved; in this case the student is invited to deepen the study and to ask further explanation by the teacher concerning the contents of the course or the study methodology to be adopted.
