OVERVIEW

The Integrated Course of Clinical Pathology I and Medical Technical Sciences is the first course of the 1st year which characteriz the profession of Biomedical Laboratory Technician. The students, having followed the lessons common to all the Health Care Professional Studies Courses, will have the first approach on Laboratory Medicine and its basics in the integrated course, in order to have knowledge that will enable them to understand the subjects discussed In the following years of the Course

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Acquire fundamental, basic and specialized knowledge of laboratory medicine and organization, the professional development of TSLB and healthcare legislation. Get in-depth knowledge of: • blood components, primary and secondary hemostasis, coagulation factors, intrinsic and extrinsic pathways • hematology, coagulation, microscopic reading techniques.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

The integrated course is divided into two disciplinary field,
Clinical Pathology I and Medical Technical Sciences. The section on Clinical Pathology, entrusted to Medical Doctors, deals with subjects of Basic Laboratory Medicine, physiopathology in the human body, primary and secondary coagulation system, hematopoiesis and blood cells, the analytical process of the samples in the Its entirety and the basics of guidelines and EBM for a correct analytical path of the sample. The part related to the Medical Technical Sciences, in line with the subjects covered in the section of Clinical Pathology, is entrusted to Professors belonging to the professional profile of the Biomedical Laboratory Technician, focusing on the analytical techniques, methods and processes of the Hematocatalysis and microscopy, clinical chemistry in the field of urgency, special examinations such as immunosuppressive drugs, emogasanalysis, chains of custody for sexual violence and toxicological examinations, and bases for treating samples in the immune transfusion centers; The following aspects will be analyzed: the evolution of the Laboratory of Analysis, health and university legislation, Italian health service,  the role of the Laboratory Technician, the organization of the laboratory and the presentation Of the different branches of Laboratory Medicine that will be treated in the following years of the Study Course.
