OVERVIEW

Clinical biochemistry is the area of clinical pathology that is generally concerned with analysis of bodily fluids for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. 

AIMS AND CONTENT

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

Starting by acquisitions in Basic Biochemistry, in this course we will focalize on clinical correlations between structural and functional alterations and medical onset.  Students should know the more common diagnostic methods to evaluate normal or pathological conditions and know the physiological values of metabolites and enzyme markers

Plenary Lectures covering the entire program of the course.

Proteins and enzymes: enzyme assays and their role in Clinica Biochemistry

Blood test

Urine analysis

Analysis to control hepatic functions

Analysis to control renal functions 

Fluid an electrolite balance

water,acid base and buffer reglation

ASSESSMENT METHODS

The assessment takes place only through the final exam which aims to ensure the effective acquisition by the student of the expected learning outcomes.

Exam evaluation will take into account knowledge, presentation/speaking skills, as well as the ability in connecting the different arguments
