AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The course provides the basics of energy analysis of buildings and associated thermal plants, illustrates the actual European and national regulations and approaches the dynamic simulation of buildings with a software open-source.

Lectures

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

Building shell: fundamentals on dispersions through opaque and transparent components, dispersions by ventilation, requested minimal global heat transfer coefficients. Solutions to improve the energetic efficiency of opaque and transparent components of building shell.
Thermal plants: fundamentals on plants efficiency. HVAC plants and components. Technical solutions to improve the energetic efficiency of plants.
Plant-building interactions: Determination of ideal energy requirements for winter heating, energy certification of buildings, relevant European and national regulations.
Introduction to the open source software EnergyPlus for the dynamic energy simulation of buildings.
