OVERVIEW

This is a blended course: one part of it is taught in the classroom and the other part on an online platform.

Aimed at students in the third year of Lingue e culture moderne, curriculum per impresa e turismo

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Teaching, provided entirely online, leads to the syntactic, lexical and communicative competence in the professional register and is geared toward Maritime Economics.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

To acquire communicative skills in Spanish written comprehension and expression as well as comprehension and oral expression in Maritime Economics and Tourism.

TEACHING METHODS

10 classroom meetings and independent learning on the online platform.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

The course includes 10 classroom meetings and independent training by students through an FAD platform. The classroom meetings will provide theoretical knowledge of Language for Special Purposes and indications on the autonomous learning path.

The distance part of the course ("Spanish for Maritime Economics ") is divided into five modules corresponding to five thematic blocks:

1.         Ports

2.         Transport and goods

3.         Cruises

4.         The job search

5.         Work in a maritime firm

Each of the five modules is divided into several units which include different activities and exercises that students will have to perform gradually. Through the gradual and orderly route by sections, we will "sail" in different areas: from ports, through warehousing and the transport of goods, to ship decks and cruise ship cabins. An office environment will be fostered as students work in Spanish, one of the world's most widely used languages in trade exchanges. All this without forgetting the grammatical, lexical and pragmatic aspects of the language. At the end of each unit, a self-assessment test is planned, which makes it possible to verify the skills acquired.

RECOMMENDED READING/BIBLIOGRAPHY

Theoretical papers published on the Aulaweb page dedicated to the course.

EXAMS

EXAM DESCRIPTION

A written exam is taken at the end of the course.

In order to do the exam, it is mandatory that all activities of the five modules of the platform-based part have been carried out and completed at least five days before the examination date.

ASSESSMENT METHODS

The examination consists of a theoretical open-answer LSP question and a practical test that can include lexical exercises in context, pragmatic communication, textual analysis and drafting a business letter (response to a job offer, complaint, request for information, etc.). The assessment will take into account knowledge of the theoretical part of LSP and the skills acquired through the online course (but not the results of the tests that the student has carried out in each individual unit from time to time).
