A la fin du cours, les étudiants auront acquis des connaissances et des compétences approfondies dans le domaine de l'analyse du discours d'empreinte française, une bonne maitrise des outils d'analyse méta-linguistique et thématique des différentes manifestations discursives de la langue des médias. 

At the end of the course, the students will have acquired deep knowledge and expertise in the field of French discourse analysis, both in terms of meta-linguistic analysis tools and thematic aspects, including different media languages. 

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

Après avoir terminé le cours, l'étudiant sera en mesure de
- Identifier les mécanismes propres à la langue des médias, avec une référence particulière à la langue de la presse écrite
- Analyser la dynamique des textes journalistiques à travers les outils de l'analyse du discours d'empreinte française (AD )

At the end of the course, the student will be able to identify the rhetorical mechanisms of media languages, with particular reference to journalistic language. The student will be able to analyze the linguistic dynamics of journalistic texts through the tools of French analyse du discours (AD – discours analysis); with the support of the theoretical and critical bibliography, the student will also be able to identify the rhetorical and argumentative strategies in the texts.

At the end of the course, the student will be able to understand and analyze written and multimedia texts and speeches in French (C1 level of the CECR), with particular attention to the linguistic features of media discourse, press and audiovisual media.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

The course presents an overview of the tools of discourse analysis in media communication. In particular, journalistic communication in French will be dealt with, referring to the rhetorical construction strategies of argumentation in its ethos, logos and pathos components.

Le cours présente un aperçu des outils d'analyse dans le cadre de la communication médiatique. En particulier, on abordera la communication journalistique en français, en référence aux stratégies rhétoriques et argumentatives.

EXAM DESCRIPTION

L'examen consistera en un examen oral testant les compétences analytiques des textes journalistiques acquises pendant le cours. L'examen se concentrera sur l'analyse du discours des médias, à travers l'examen de textes authentiques. Les compétences dans l'expression orale en français seront également testés ainsi. Note sur trente.

For the theoretical module, the exam will consist of an oral interview that will focus on the skills of textual analysis acquired during the course. Outmost consideration will therefore be given to the skills acquired in the analysis of the media discourse, through the reading of authentic texts, and to the skills in oral expression in French. Evaluation scored out of thirty.

ASSESSMENT METHODS

L'examen du module théorique vise à vérifier l'acquisition des connaissances théoriques concernant dans l'analyse du discours d'empreinte française et la capacité d'appliquer ces connaissances à l'analyse concrète d'un ou plusieurs textes médiatiques.

The theoretical module test aims at verifying the acquisition of theoretical knowledge regarding French discourse analysis and the ability to apply this knowledge to the concrete analysis of one or more media texts.
