The course consists of 1 credit and is organized in 6 hours of lectures. It allows the student to acquire basic knowledge on the etiology, pathogenesis and clinical features of the major human parasitic diseases.
At the end of the optional course, the student has a basic knowledge of the biology and the host-parasite interactions of protozoa and animals parasites of human beings. In particular, the student is able to recognize morphologically species or groups of parasitological interest, he knows the prophylactic rules to limit/eliminate infestations or infections caused by protozoa and animal parasites.
Objectives of Parasitology. Leishmaniosis and trypanosomiasis. The amoebae. Malaria. Toxoplasmosis. The Metazoa: Tapeworms (solium, echinococcus). Nematodes: Pinworms and Hookworm
