It allows the student to acquire basic knowledge on the etiology, pathogenesis and clinical features of the major human parasitic diseases. AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES At the end of the optional course, the student has a basic knowledge of the biology and the host-parasite interactions of protozoa and animals parasites of human beings. In particular, the student is able to recognize morphologically species or groups of parasitological interest, he knows the prophylactic rules to limit/eliminate infestations or infections caused by protozoa and animal parasites. SYLLABUS/CONTENT Objectives of Parasitology. Leishmaniosis and trypanosomiasis. The amoebae. Malaria. Toxoplasmosis. The Metazoa: Tapeworms (solium, echinococcus).
