This module is aimed at introducing the fundamentals of philosophical ethics (terminology, topics and problems, main currents).
Being able to outline the evolution of western philosophy, in a diachronic perspective. Being able to present the origin and development of the main western philosophical categories; being able to analyze the evolution of these categories during the four main periods in history of philosophy (Ancient history, Middle Ages, Modern Age and Contemporary Age). Getting acquainted with the main works of philosophical tradition through the study and commentary of a "classic".
First-year students will become acquainted with the basic terminology of philosophical ethics, together with its topics and problems and its main currents. Students be able to approach the classics of moral philosophy and to face the contemporary debate.

oral exam
Since the course is designed for first-year students, the oral exam is aimed at assessing the following points: students' grasp of the topics covered during the course and their ability to collocate them in the relevant historical-cultural context; ability to present contents in a clear way; correct use of terminology in relation to authors and texts.
