OVERVIEW

The course is an introduction to the fundamental notions of analytic philosophy such as the distinction between necessary truths and contingent truths, the distinction between analytic truths and synthetic truths, and the distinction between a priori truths and a posteriori truths.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Introduction to the basics and the methodology of analytical philosophy focusing on the question: "What do analytical philosophers do and how?". The course is centered on three fundamental distinctions in philosophy: (i) analytic / synthetic, (ii) a priori / a posteriori, (iii) necessary / contingent. The purpose of the course is to provide students with the indispensable tools for approaching autonomous reading and studying of essays in analytic philosophy.

The bibliography will be provided to students during the course. The entire bibliography will be downloadable from aulaweb. The teacher uses his own coursepack.
