The course presents (through an approach based on cultural history and on media and visual studies) the historiographic relevance of visual documents and their connection with the process of construction of collective representations and collective imaginary in contemporary societies.
The course presents (through an approach based on cultural history and on media and visual studies) visual events as an exchange between the observer and the observed, an exchange which brings about some practices that transform the power of images and vision into experiences: interpretation, fruition, reception, consumption. In this perspective, the course focuses on the historiographic relevance of visual texts, and on their inevitable connection with the process of construction of collective representations in contemporary societies.
