The thought of the main protagonists of this age as well as the more studied themes, will be critically approached in the light of historiographic principles which will become clearer. The aim is to provide students with the necessary contextual and exegetical means in order to research in this field. AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES Getting acquainted with the major currents in contemporary philosophy: hermeneutics, analytical philosophy, philosophy of science, practical philosophy, post-structuralism, postmodern philosophy. Students will analyze in detail the thought and work of one or more authors. AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES Lessons regard the principal tendencies of contemporary philosophy that are critically presented from an historic point of view. Also a thematic approach is taken into consideration. One of these themes is object of a deep inquiry starting from the exegesis of a classic TEACHING METHODS Combination of traditional lectures and classroom discussions SYLLABUS/CONTENT Phases of contemporary philosophy as described by analytical historiography.
