By reading and commenting on literary sources and documents the events of Roman history from the origin of cities to the fall of the western Empire will be reconstructed.
The “Roman history and civilisation” course has the objective of studying the events of Roman history from the origin to the fall of the Empire by reading and commenting on documentary sources and by using the study of Latin epigraphy understood as a privileged means of understanding the main institutional aspects and daily life of ancient Rome.

The exam centres on the programme illustrated at the beginning of the course. During the exam, which is oral, the examining board chaired by the lecturer who teaches the course will assess the attainment of teaching objectives, taking into consideration knowledge of contents, precision of answers, capacity to make links among topics expounded. Students will pass the exam if they demonstrate a mastery of basic concepts whereas they will attain excellence if they demonstrate a capacity to autonomously make links among topics proposed and critically re-elaborate what they have learned.
