History of Christianity is a "specialized" discipline which is essential to an academic philosophical curriculum, as it presents the development of Christianity, of its ecclesiastic structures and its dogmas, with a special focus on the relations between philosophical knowledge and religious intuition.
Students will have a strong grasp of the historical development of Christianity from its origins to the 20th century and of its essential moments: the early Christian Church, the Councils of the 4th and 5th century, medieval Church, Reformation and Counter-Reformation, the Church in the Modern Age. Students will study a particularly meaningful period in the history of Christian Churches in order to understand their plurality and how they tend to unity.
