The course introduces to a sociological approach to family as a social group

an in-deep knowledge on family transformation in current society

TEACHING METHODS

formal teaching; discussions and debate; students presentations

The course will use the films and images produced by the Laboratory for Visual Sociologi in order to address the topics of the syllabus. 

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

The course will address the relationship between inequality and family in the following fields:

- schooling

- youth cultures

- migrations

- gender

- crime

For attending students: production of a research - text and discussion on assigned literature

For not attending students: discussion on assigned literature

ASSESSMENT METHODS

For students attending classes: the course will assess the students ability to articulate sociological knowledge with micro research experience
For all students: the course will assess the students ability to  critically discuss the social transformations of family in current societies, adopting theories and research on the field
