Refrigeration technology is also studied with particular reference to vapor compression and absorption refrigeration systems and the main criteria for their design and operation optimization. TEACHING METHODS Classroom lessons, numerical calculation fro the design of given refrigeration appartus, laboratory tests. SYLLABUS/CONTENT Refrigeration technology. Rankine and absorption cycles. Process analysis and optimization. Vapour compression refrigeration technology, components, design and control. Design of absorption systems. Laboratory measurements on small size refrigerators. Heat pumps and solar assisted heat pumps. Innovation in refrigeration technology (magnetic refrigeration, dynamic regulation and control of refrigeratoprs). RECOMMENDED READING/BIBLIOGRAPHY E. Depending on the development of the course, there may be monographic study activities developed by the students, on the basis of lecturer's suggestions. Usually in this second module the use of design and optimization tools is required too.
