The aim of the course is to provide students with a detailed knowledge of the operating principles and system lay-out of power plants for energy conversion, such as gas turbine systems, steam power plant and combined cycles. Moreover, the course will give the basis for the plant performances calculation, system behaviour understanding and plant management knowledge, with particular regard to the current national and international energy scenario.
Frontal lectures with practice exercises.
- Energy sources and consumption at national and worldwide level. - Gas turbine power plants: Ideal and real behaviour and performances, operating parameters, plant management and control, off-design and transient operating conditions, solutions for plant efficiency enhancing. . Steam power plant: system components description, thermal balance, plant performance and operating parameters, regeneration and reheating, part load operation and system control. - Combined Cycles: System description and motivations, performances and management. -Innovative solutions for efficient and environmental-friendly energy conversions.
