OVERVIEW

The teaching is based on two topics: "Cultural Tourism" and  "Business".

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

To introduce students to a basic vocabulary concerning cultural tourism as well as the rudiments of commercial and administrative language and of the Polish law.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

to present to the students the main questions related to tourism in Poland (but also in Italy, for Polish tourists), places to visit and various ways of doing tourism. The students learn the vocabulary base on business activity (Polish and Italian-Polish) operating in the economic-social context in legal forms. At the end of the course the student will be able to translate and / or interpret short texts and speeches related to both technical languages.

PREREQUISITES

Good knowledge of Polish assessed by the II year language exam; in particular, a keen interest for languages related to cultural tourism and business.

TEACHING METHODS

36 hours classroom teaching – Dr. Kowalcze. Analytical readings and translation of topic-related texts: tourist guides, press articles, commercial letters, contracts, regulatory acts, etc.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

Presented in detail at the beginning of the academic year. During the lessons will be studied the main terminology linked to these two specific areas.

RECOMMENDED READING/BIBLIOGRAPHY

Since there are no good textbooks or manuals on this topic, all texts - prepared by the teachers - will be provided during the lessons.

EXAM DESCRIPTION

A written and an oral exam at the end of the course.

ASSESSMENT METHODS

Interview with the student; evaluation of the written work.

FURTHER INFORMATION

Regular attendance is strongly recommended. The failures in the examination, and especially in the written one, are often due to low frequency.
