Italian linguistics is the scientific study of the Italian language (mainly, but not only, contemporary), its dialects and the languages of ethnolinguistic minorities.
Italian linguistics deals with the structures of language, uses and functions of the language, with reference to the model of geographical, social, situational and communicative varieties.

The varieties of Italian. The course aims to illustrate the varieties of Italian considered according to the factors of synchronic variation (place, society, context, means of communication).
