He is able to understand and translate texts in the original language, he has acquired the basic theoretical knowledge necessary to face the critical interpretation of their contents and is able to comment and expose texts according to specific methodologies for the analysis of the literary text . AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES At the end of the course the student knows the general lines of literary history, is able to recognize the works of the great authors of French literature, knows how to express himself in an essential but correct French, knows how to relate the works with the historical era, can distinguish and define the characteristics of the great literary movements. PREREQUISITES The student must be able, with the help of the teacher, to read texts in French, must have knowledge of history and geography of Europe, must be able to recognize the Roman numerals and know how to relate them with the centuries. It must be able to express itself in Italian and in a basic French TEACHING METHODS Lectures with the support of aulaweb. For the 3 CFU module borrowed, refer to the course of the III year of prof. Bricco SYLLABUS/CONTENT The course includes the presentation of: seventeenth-century literature (the genre of histoire comique: notes on the works of Sorel, Scarron, the theater of Corneille, Molière, Racine), of the eighteenth century (The novels of the philosophes: notes on the Lettres persanes by Montesquieu, the Contes philosophiques of Voltaire, the works of Diderot and Rousseau) of the nineteenth century (hints on Chateaubriand, Hugo, Stendhal, Balzac, Baudelaire, Flaubert, Verlaine, Rimbaud, Mallarmé, Zola, Huysmans) of the twentieth century (Apollinaire, Gide, Proust, Céline, Valéry, Camus , Sartre, Ionesco, Butor, Queneau, Modiano, Volodine). In the second semester there will be the 18 hours borrowed from the French Literature and Culture 3 course, held by Prof. Bricco, focusing on the relationship between literature and photography in the nineteenth century. RECOMMENDED READING/BIBLIOGRAPHY The notes and materials in the webroom are sufficient for attending students. Non-attending students replace the notes with Lagarde-Michard, Bordas editions, regarding the presentation of the authors; while for the lecture materials they have access to the webroom. See schedule Class schedule FRENCH LITERATURE AND CULTURE II EXAMS EXAM DESCRIPTION Oral exam ASSESSMENT METHODS The exam will consist of an oral test in French on the course contents through questions from the Commission. The candidate will have to choose an anthology extract of those in the program and will have twenty minutes to prepare. Following exposure of the contents of the text will be put to the candidate at least one question for each of the areas and periods treated. In examination assessment will be taken into account, as well as knowledge of the program to be performed (topics covered in class, reading and analysis of texts proposed during the lessons, the materials made available on aulaweb platform and readings of full texts), also the exhibition and accuracy skills in the use of the specific discipline language.
