The course aims to propose a picture of the most significant movements, authors and texts of Italian literature in the period between the first decade of the twentieth century and the emergence of the Neoavanguardia, starting from the reading and commentary of the most important works accompanied of philological and bibliographic information, openness to problems and historical-critical issues and connections to the essential lines of modern literatures outside Italy and the publishing world.
Analysis of modern Italian literature (poetry, narrative prose, essays) both in relation to texts and critical methodology as well as a pondered historiographical setting. Broadening the critical perspective to take account of parallel experiences and experiments in the terrain of music and visual arts
The course aims to achieve the following educational objectives: 1) knowledge of the evolution of Italian literary history of the twentieth century, with particular attention to poetry and narrative; 2) acquisition of skills related to the specific literary (with particular attention to poetic forms and narrative structures); 3) understanding of the mechanisms that regulate the "literary field", ie how a single work is placed with respect to the historical, critical and editorial context; 4) ability to analyze the interaction that is triggered between the literary text and the surrounding society, and how the former is a consequence of the second, but also represents an attempt to modify it.
At the end of the course the student is expected to have achieved the following results: 1) adequate knowledge of contemporary Italian literature; 2) a capacity for oral expression appropriate to the subject matter, with mastery of an appropriate vocabulary; 3) ability to analyze literary text; 4) understanding of the historical evolution of Italian poetry and novelism of the twentieth century; 5) ability to understand the interaction between literary text, social context and editorial.
Essential prerequisite of teaching is a good ability to read and understand literary texts that allows access in autonomy to authors and works of the last century that will be the subject of monographic study during the lessons.
The teaching consists of lectures, for a total of 54 hours. If necessary, students will receive useful materials for the lessons in advance via Aulaweb.

MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY ITALIAN LITERATURE
Oral exam.
Expected knowledge and skills will be verified through an oral exam. The preparation will be considered adequate if the student demonstrates the ability to exhibit using a relevant terminology, will show that he understood the issues addressed during the lessons, will be able to independently apply the critical reflection on the proposed works, revealing that he was able to develop in a personal way the teaching content.
