This course aims to develop students’ ability to read maths texts in English and improve students’ English communicative skills in the field of maths.
This course introduces students to basic English phraseology, syntax and style needed for a variety of maths topics so as to develop students’ written and spoken comprehension.
Twelve weekly two-hour classes in the first semester.
The course will be dealing, from a linguistic point of view, with the following topics:
alphabets and English varieties, arithmetic, algebra, geometry, linear algebra, mathematical arguments, functions, sequences and series, prime numbers, probability and statistics.

Classes will start according to the academic calendar.
Written exam.
The exam will consist of exercises similar to those done in class on the topics listed in Syllabus/Content.
Attendance is strongly recommended.
