The course is divided into two parts: a one-semester linguistics module and a two-semester practical language module. AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES The linguistic module aims at presenting comparatively the diacronic evolutio of the Scandinavian languages, thus providing the Swedish language and culture student with the tools for a basic understanding of the other Scandinavian languages. The practical language module aims at bringing students to the C1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The practical module is assessed at the end of the second semester through a written exam paper and an oral exam. ASSESSMENT METHODS The oral exam on the linguistics module will deal with the most significant features of the phonology, morphology, syntax and vocabulary of the Scandinavian languages in their historical phases, on the periodization problems, as well as on the syncronic relationship between the Scandinavian languages.
