AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES The aim of the course is to provide the theoretical and methodological foundations of discourse analysis in Spanish. The basic assumption will be that textual meaning is built at several intertwined levels - grammar, pragmatics, etc. - in constant interaction with the extra-linguistic context. The course will be taught in Spanish. AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES The course aims at providing an advanced understanding of the features of the oral political discourse in the media in Spain and in Spanish America, from a pragmatics and critical discourse analysis perspective. PREREQUISITES None TEACHING METHODS Lectures SYLLABUS/CONTENT The oral political discourse in the media (speeches, interviews, talk shows, etc.) from a pragmatics and critical discourse analysis perspective. Authentic materials in Spanish will be analyzed, looking at the relationship between language, ideology and power that emerges from them. RECOMMENDED READING/BIBLIOGRAPHY Fernández Lagunilla, M. An assignment will also have to be submitted. ASSESSMENT METHODS Grading will take into account familiarity with the contents of the bibliographical references and the ability to apply them both in terms of critical reflection and analysis of texts or transcriptions of interactions in Spanish. Correction and adequacy of academic writing in Spanish will also be taken into account.
