Course description
The presentation is made through slides (in English) with comments also in English, main topics are geography, commodities trading, the seaborne trade, in particular related to raw materials, liquid and dry (bulk shipping), geopolitics, international trade agreements, custom duties
Learning of geography, all navigable waters, including rivers, lakes, canals, straits, the legal status of the sea, disputes, privileges, conflicts, the flow of main commodities, shipping routes, trading, origin and destination.
In depth analysis of main commodities, main shipping routes, possible combinations and triangulations, geographical advantages and disadvantages, evolution of trade.
A fairly good knowledge of English language, together with a previous degree, preferably in economics
Presentation with slides, examples of good practices, case study
Part 1) physical geography, oceans, lakes, rivers, tides, straits, canals, waterways, territorial disputes, privileges, boycot, piracy
Part 2) coastal nations, landlocked nations, climatic phenomenons
Part 3) commodity trading, the trader's philosophy, geopolitics, outlook of main bulk commodites
Part 4) technological evolution, market trends, the custom aspect, international trade treaties and agreements
Slides will be made available on AulaWeb and can be copied, once lesson is concluded
